Currently Russian coins are made from Copper-Nickel alloys, clad strips and nickel clad steel. In the nickel planchets, only 3-5% of the weight consists of nickel, the rest is steel. The technology for using clad strips and galvanized clad planchets has already shown its effectiveness in practice.
